Come to the Next
Family Reunion
& Decoration Day

Saturday
August 1, 2009

The first Saturday of August each year is a gathering day for families of those buried in the Wright Cemetery.

As we gather, we renew relationships, meet additions to the family, and share a common meal. Everyone who comes brings something to be shared in the pavilion built in the center of the cemetery.

This pavilion has become the gathering place and was constructed on the site where generations past have met under the trees.

Families see each other again, children play together, flowers are placed on graves to commemorate those who have passed on, and the individuals responsible for oversight of the cemetery provide information to all who have come.

Additional information will be included soon including family trees and linkage into this family cemetery

Report of the Board of Directors
2 August 2008

Cemetery Patrons:

In 2007, the Wright Cemetery Board of Directors passed the resolution to being the process of making the cemetery self-sustaining during the next ten years. This would allow the cemetery to operate on the interest of the trust fund and not to have to depend totally on yearly contributions. To accomplish this, the trust fund balance would need to be [increased]. It was decided in 2007 to re-invest the interest each year...

In 2008, the Board of Directors decided to transfer [an initial deposit] from the checking account. This transfer and the yearly investing of the interest should raise the fund balance to [necessary level] after ten years. (This, of course, depends on the interest rates each year.)

This is a good start. An additional [infusion of funds] still needs to be raised. This could be accomplished if 50 people would agree to donate [a set amount] per year for ten years to the Trust Fund Account. We, the Board, will be contacting individuals in the next few weeks to ask help in raising these additional funds.

Thanks for your cooperation,

The Board of Directors,
Mattie Lou Smith
Rosemary Hudson
Jeff Parker
Ray Smith
Diane Pruett
